Kai's Soapbox is going on hiatus!
I'm not going away forever! Just giving myself a break for once.
The title sorta says it all. I’m taking a break from this project, and will be picking it back up later, probably in a different form.
There are a few reasons for this decision, but chief among them is that I need some time to rest, lol.
I mean, immediately after finishing full-time National Service, I started this project? Then started working full-time? Then [other life stresses and projects]? I am spreading myself far too thin, to the point that it is not particularly sustainable. Too many projects, not enough time. Something’s got to give.
So, with a heavy heart, I’m taking a break from Kai’s Soapbox for a while. Attempting to write a full-length piece every week, even with my minimally edited style, is far too much of a time commitment for me at present.
I’ve also been feeling rather constrained by this project’s chosen subject. The world is vast and interesting, with many things to puzzle over. In that lens, a focus solely on Singaporean politics is a little myopic. Also not particularly befitting Mr. Chaos Brain over here, who is continually thinking about way more things than that.
So, when I pick back up with Kai’s Soapbox (I’m thinking within a few months), it’ll likely be in a different format, likely talking about different stuff. Possibly more of a self-improvement, philosophical, social, cultural, and general commentary focus - but really who knows? I think I’ll leave it fairly open-ended until I figure out what I actually want the new edition of Kai’s Soapbox to look like.
(feel free to drop me an email at kaisoapbox@gmail.com and tell me what you’d like me to write about! also, drown me in feedback or something)
Thanks for joining me on this adventure so far. This is not the end of the story, just a pause in its telling.
Until next time!
